PIYUSH MAHAPATRA

Piyush has a passion for fixing things that are broken. This led him to pursue a medical career and become a trauma and orthopaedic surgeon, helping to fix broken bones, restore mobility and livelihoods. He has always desired to create a greater impact, which led him to found a specialist education company in order to train the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons.

 

He believes that technology can enable progress and he has presented and published widely on the use of digital technology and robotics to drive us forward within healthcare delivery and orthopaedic surgery.

At Open Medical, Piyush helps to drive sustainable digital transformation at scale across a number of global healthcare systems. As well as leadership responsibilities, he retains a keen interest in product development, ensuring that we continue to solve real problems.

He has successfully secured funding for a large number of innovation projects via funding bodies, such as Innovate UK.

​

He also provides mentorship for clinical innovators through his role on the NHS Clinical Entrepreneur programme and is happy to share advice and insights.
